  • Be wavy of power consumption of these fiber optic HMDI cables, they consumed quite of bit of power and had caused problem for my HD Fury VRROOM video processor.

  • with the HDMI discussion thread moved to Audio only section, i guess most of the discussion will fall mostly on the Audio side of thing where there are folks here would concern how much performance a better HDMI cable can deliver rather than Video.
however... as a side topic, i think we can dig on whether higher price cable really delivers, or just plain snake oil that makes demanding folks feels good... here is what a USD$200 AudioQuest HDMI cable owner had encountered:

  • there is no signal degradation like used to happen with analog RCA cables. You are now just moving 1s and 0s and the signal is either on or off. There is no in-between

This is the common misunderstanding of audiophile and videophile on digital signal processing.

    Short one

0 and 1 are at the application/middle layer of transportation of digital data. In the lowest layer : still analogue wave. It means if you intercept the signal what you will see is just analogue wave.

At the protocol layer where those analogue wave are converted to digital bits 0 or 1. Analogue wave in 0s and 1s out. ADC.

There are always 0.9, 0.8, 07, 1.1, 1.2 just you don't see it because all of us are talking about application/usage not how the data are transported.

  • came here looking to see if anyone was selling a preloved 18Gbps FIBBR cable and was pleasantly surprised to see the prices for the new models. I think I'll get a 2m cable from Amazon SG to troubleshoot some video dropout issues I have been having with my HDFury and Roku Ultra.

  • Furutech have two newly added HDMI
    HF-X (copper) and HF-A (optical)
According to Furutech pricing structure, HF-X is more expensive than HF-A. Is this an indication that traditional copper still better than optical? Happened to have both.will find out later.
