  • If u go through his profile, u can see that he has "Marked up" his pricing by about $120 just within this one year period.. look at his past sales of this model, u will see that he was actually selling it just above $700...

  • the UB9000 is the highest end premium player from Panasonic farm that gains many points in audio visual presentation qualities. hence, premium grade would require premium “medical response” if a major hiccup screws up the whole system. think of it like a kid from rich family, when sickness falls, do you think the kid will be brought to Mount.E hospital or polyclinic for assessment and treatment? Anson’s price is premium, but nobody knows how they would handle the warranty coverage. at least for sure, the player will be treated... just that we dont know the “doctor” is Oxford MBBS certified or NUS MBBS certified...
Ed, thanks again. Now, I would have to decide where to buy from for this model.

  • i think you're referring to this deal...

    螢幕擷取畫面 (36).jpg

...very attractive price indeed, cannot deny.
but a further read into details, no mention of Region Free on either BluRay or DVD playback.
highly possible a region locked model @ BD-A/DVD-1 U.S. model with no clear indication but 240v compatible transformer.

Region Break Free models are priced about $230 higher with shipping as what offered in EBAY, from BombayElectronics.

This is good information. Personally, I like devices that are of better build, cos I would be using them for a long while before I need to change.

  • we'll need to be fair to some sellers who import small amounts and resell in a price that would seems to high when we look back at how the original source priced to international buyers. yes... comparing the seller's recent listing to the price 2yrs ago, $120 is kind of too high, but when we factor in X-rates, shipping costs... not to forget, tax imposed in e-trade when item reaches our shore... $120-GST=nett kopi-duit.
to be fair $70-$85 profit per set, small available stocks for sales, to live through weeks as allowance... at least his price is much better than what Anson offers now even with a year of warranty thrown in.

reference to his listing 3wks ago
    螢幕擷取畫面 (38).jpg

then to the one that 2yrs back
    螢幕擷取畫面 (39).jpg

you'll see that even though 2cts difference could be little,
but when you do USD$XXX divide by SGD2cts, the number will be very clear.

we can get our best deal now from TPS UK, with shipment cost in, X-rates Bank charges, @SGD$700 +/-$10... not to forget the later GST charge...
that could eventually ends up roughly $730~745.

  • note that if you're buying from TPS.UK you need to click on the correct model such that 100GB 4K discs could play smoothly.

    螢幕擷取畫面 (41).jpg

this is the old model with older firmware

    螢幕擷取畫面 (40).jpg

this is the "mark2" with newer firmware

internal components among the 2 are nearly 99% identical according to discussions in other forums.
but it's the initial firmware that's causing the hiccups.

  • from the description, it seems that the set is sourced from U.S as "100v~240v" is mentioned. anyway, considering that if there were tax imposed when seller brought in from U.S, he's probably earning a little "kopi-duit" from the $840 sales, which in comparison to Anson...
    螢幕擷取畫面 (34).jpg
...even if a year of seller's warranty thrown in, the Carousell seller is selling at a more attractive price even though there's no warranty mentioned.
This US unit supposed to have universal voltage.  Thus can order directly from Amazon.com, total S$740 after shipping and GST.

  • probably... after looking into details of the product ASIN number
    https://www.amazon.sg/UBP-X800-UBP-UX80-Blu-ray-110-240-Dynastar/dp/B077MP1NKY/ref=sr_1_5?crid=1SM81XC5G2HXN&keywords=x800m2&qid=1664287493&qu=eyJxc2MiOiIxLjQwIiwicXNhIjoiMC4wMCIsInFzcCI6IjAuMDAifQ%3D%3D&s=electronics&sprefix=x800%2Bm%2Celectronics%2C532&sr=1-5&th=1
...it seems that the listing title is kind of misleading.

anyway, i still suggest to go thru TPS, taking advantage of SGD now rising against Pound in X-rates for better deal.

Did anyone actually bought from them before? I guess this is a better Option cos it’s the same voltage as ours and no need to convert. If anyone has bought from them, would you mind share the experience as well as how long it takes to ship over. Thank you.
