it's 2023, and the price of ticket entry into the World of ATMOS had dropped!
first product to do so was under $500 and that's a 3.1.2ch soundbar from PRISM+.
how about the world of separates?

to set a line marking "Budget Tight and Friendly", i guess it wouldn't be too much if we're asking for those makes with a minimum 3.1.2ch that would price under $750 right? a norm when we were in the Dolby Digital/DTS age?

looking at the specs of what the Denon avr-x1700h can do for my neighbour, i would say, try to save up the $200 extra for a "Future proof" avr in hand...
the pioneer at $750, cannot match the denon in any way.
just save up $200+ more, n u get the "Bell's n Whistle's"
can even use "Plastic Encased speakers" it sounds bloody good!!
i still am very impressed with my neighbour's set up....
8" harmon kardon subwoofer with the jbl plastic encased speaker's..
