Hi fellas, I need help to make an access hole in a TT stand. The old TD166 II springs goes haywire all the time and require adjustment for every session.

Could some kind soul help as I do not have the appropriate tool/s for the task. I an bring the stand to your place and am willing to pay for your effort. Plz leave a msg here..

Thank you.

It should not require adjustments at every session. Once a year at most. Likely the springs corroded and rubber bushing worn or broken. Replace the springs and rubber washers.

Do the tuning from below by placing the turntable without bottom straddling two level dining chair seats.

Hi Blue, re: It should not require adjustments at every session - absolutely but it does.

The springs are Linn springs as the originals had died. I don't remember of any rubber washers involved in the assembly? I have some heavy fishing lead weights hot glued to the suspended plate which holds the bearing, as the Linn springs are far too stiff.

I had the table on this stand but raised with some blocks so that I can reach under to adjust the wing nuts but last week I accidently knocked some of the blocks and the table fell off it's perch. Thus I rather not risk this again and have a triangle hole cut in the stand = between the 3 rulers, the dots are where the springs are located.
