From my point of view ot all depends on the type of audiophile. Two case studies here first gentlemen call Mr C, he saw me work my magic around my friend shop moving speaker to get the best sound, TT setup etc.so he offer to buy me dinner and invited me to his house and the rest is history we become good friends and he always ask my opinion before he buy a piece of equipment and I will always give him from honest feedback but he will always invite me back to give my seal of approval but as time goes by I tested him a few time his hearing is not far from my, just wanted to reaffirm his purchase was correct and not his imagination.
Gentlemen 2 is an expat angmo, my friend ask me along as he his short handed and ask my help to move and set up a heavy piece
of Amplifier. He has two systems one was horn speaker in the hall and the other was in dining room, a top model floor stand JM Lab ( now Focal ) so after main system was setup , we started chatting and he complained he not getting the best out of dining system. So I offered my help and move out the speaker out a little and Boom, soundstage tone vocal everything and infact his dining hall system sound more musical than his main. Both me and my friend was smiling but surprisingly not the owner. Because the speakers was heavy he ask us to move it back but I have to ask why. He wife is not happy any hifi that is out the invisible line around the wall boundary.
wtf. The moral of the story do get involved or say anything unless the person invite you for dinner.
