No clear answer since both brand is contentedly jockeying for position with new models. One have choose base on taste and budget. So it has to be model specific.

Came across this old thread. Wow, the IMD performance is horrible. Look at the Topping IMD as comparison. Harmonics & noise is quite high for such a hiend DAC.

This DAC look so nice inside.
But measures like this.
huge amount of harmonic spray (probably hard to detect by our ears)
didn't engineer properly the I-V stage therefore suffer from the ESS IMD hump
oh wow, look at that horrible jitter (never seen such horrible jitter before)
