US$2k of parts is quite reasonable for 5kWh system.
(Can use AC to charge the batt when HiFi is not in use.)

Confirm not for audiophile reasons, it’s just for fun 😜

Now with kW of battery capacity relatively easily available, i wonder if HiFi will evolve to run off DC battery supply (let's say 48Vdc) ?

Can toss out all those AC-to-DC components, and not worry about grid AC quality & noise.

Just a crazy thought ... :)

Battery management system is very impt for Safety and battery cell lifespan.

Running hifi off the grid means your hifi general sound the same the entire day. Do not need wait till late nights for it to become more quiet.

However, to run the whole system on grid for few hrs and especially those running big class A amps, you will need big big battery cells.
