Well, I ordered the black one, but the white one came instead. In life, one never knows what surprises await.

I just got myself an HDMI cable for I2S. Hopefully, this video cable will work fine for audio.

So who uses I2S, is able to hear the difference it makes, and favors this connection over S/PDIF?

This is quickly turning into a gadget discussion rather than a hi-fi unboxing thread. But before anyone stops me, I proudly present my new QD OLED with a flat matte finish. It's currently covered by a glossy protective sheet, so it appears glossy rather than matte. I do wonder if the matte surface might make the colors less vibrant.

Definately...Matte surface screens will lose colour vibrancy compared to glossy screens...

How do the two compare?

Hopefully, I can set them up this coming weekend. The supervisor at Luther said that the coaxial design will make all the other models sound broken in direct comparison. I think she might be right, considering the inherent cohesiveness of the coaxial design. I’ll find out later.

Postman came today

Part#1 of the UMIK1 replacement has arrived...

Bought an audio interface for my PC... really beautiful in white....

Supports combo microphone/line inputs with phantom power, mobile phone OTG input, ASIO/WDM inputs.
And on the output side, headphone out, line out, plus SPDIF optical out!

Going to be fun to play with it...

Pleasantly surprised to see the Amazon box at my door step after returning from dinner with friends.



Pretty big box to hold a much smaller box...



Very well constructed XLR measurement microphone.
This hopefully would last much longer than the UMIK1.



Gonna be an interesting weekend playing with the ECM999 & E2x2. This time I can try the REW loopback measurement method (instead of acoustic timing).
