Full Room Treatment & Room Correction

Kinda interesting one can use the information gained in this microphone recording article for room treatment. Do check out the audio samples comparing 1ms 10ms 20ms 50ms 100ms delay (this is like your room reflection/echo mixing back with the direct sound).

We know from various psychoacoustic studies that any delayed sound that arrives within the first 15 ms after the direct sound (for instance in the form of a reflection or recording by two microphones on one channel) should be attenuated by 15 dB. Another rule (from another study) is that all reflections within the first 20 ms should be attenuated by at least 20 dB.

This means, for our HiFi listening room, if we can treat the room and get the reflected sound level at least -20dB down within the 20ms window, it'll help in the sound clarity -- imaging, tonality, soundstage, etc... If cannot, then the alternative is to get the reflected sound level -15dB down within the 15ms window.

No lahh, boss, it's not mighty; it's normal through upgrades and trying to have the best sound for my system due to space constraints in the HDB house, but it will not stop me from trying in this hobby. Anyway I have tried a few calibration Auddsey multieq, A1 Evo Accoutica which will allow custom adjustments which after settle down with A1 Evo Express. Now playing around with Dirac Art got the 20% discount on BF and wanted to know more about other people's experiences/thoughts or way to improve the speaker adjustments/groupings.😁

Yes I have run the calibration 13 mic position and save into my denon preset 2. Dirac Live gave 3 slots of calibration so for my 3rd slot its Room Correction, 2nd slot Bass Management and 1st slot Dirac Art. Anyone have done this. It will be helpful to share what was the experience or any more input to tweet the calibration setting.Dirac Art is for high end HT processor like StormAudio but on 1 Oct 2025 I got a notification from my receiver of Denon and Marantz also compatible for Dirac Art and another notication of Black Friday sale from 24 Nov to 1 Dec ends today to purchase the license. So if you want to purchase the license today is the last day.😁

Yes, I bought the ART module for my Marantz AV10.

I do not have time to re-calibrate so I used my measurements made in 2023 (9.4.6) using Dirac Correction /Bass Control. The funny thing is when I am generating the filters, it went through all my 15 channels and then onwards Subwoofer #1, where it stopped without going into the Subwoofer#2, Subwoofer #3 and Subwoofer#4.

Initial impression of ART is good. Better clarity and a different sense of presence but I found it to be less immersive. Then I noticed that only subwoofer#1 was turned on from standby while the 3 subwoofers are still on standby.

So, I using the Option and switch the new ART Dirac slot to my previous slot (Bass Control) and instantly, all 4 subwoofers came alive!!

So, there is a bug with the new ART that it will not do 4 subwoofers......or is Dirac going to release a new ART Bass Control module to milk me further?

I don't have that problem with my Denon 6800. The difference is when all my subwoofers were calibrated, they were set to on, not auto or standby. Art calibration must come with DLBC then you can run ART. DLBC is different from ART. DLBC will give to generate filters, but ART will not only generate your filters but also group your speakers to work with one another to give better clarity in the center speakers, lower down the reverberation of reflective sound reflection, and support each other, especially the weaker speaker. It will allow you to customize your grouping and filters as well as the custom house curve. The bass was different—not loud but compact and fast—because every speaker is working together as a team to give the best bass, midrange, and treble. After Audyssey, A1 Evo Accoutica and Express, and now Dirac Art, at the moment I am staying with DIrac Art unless A1 Evo comes out with another calibration tool for users to try and compare which is the best sounding for our system.

As you can see from my laptop image, this is Dirac Live calibration for full frequency. If you have a subwoofer, then you will also run bass management. The blue bar level at the side—you can increase the LF or HF frequency to your liking. Also, you can do a custom dotted curve as your preference.
