It's been quite some time since anything has been mentioned about HD Bluray players since the demise of OPPO 203/205

Any Bro. has any tips for a very reliable HQ one in the range of $600 to $800/?

Would like to invest in one.

Hello Bro., where can I buy this for S$800/?

It is quite interesting what it can do plus Zone Free for DVD n Bluray and the comfort that Panasonic has a centre that can repair it.

I intend to use this to output to my LG Oled TV only and the sound will also from the LG.  Not for Home Theatre.

Would appreciate you let me know the lobang.

Thanks.

As mentioned, this can only be bought either on your trip when you go overseas or Australia(for a bigger cut in price) or ordered online thru UK retailer that ships to Singapore. This model is not in local Panasonic Service Center record, unless if you can register for after sales service with them...

The PANASONIC UB820 so far, from other discussions in other forums, did not have any playback issues due to certain multi-layered discs incompatibility. Sony on another hand, may face certain playback issues on certain titles.

However in comparison to PANASONIC, Sony have "official " local release of 4K player priced about $380, the X700 which can be get from various retailers such as Harvey, Best, Courts, Mustafa, as well as other big local retailers such as MEGA BARGAIN, AudioHouse, GainCity etc.... Should you have been looking around, you may have seen X800 sold with 1yr warranty from Lazada, Shopee and Qoo10 platform... from Anson Audio that's priced about $900. Note that the warranty IS NOT OFFICIALLY SUPPORTED by Sony SGP, as that's a parallel import.

One another model not sold openly in the market is the GIEC BDP5300 which is as simplistic as the PANASONIC that comes without multichannel decoded analogue audio output. This model can be ordered thru PohKim Video, but it doesn't comes with local warranty even though PohKim is one appointed agent for their product, the standard BD player BDP-300...

So none of these either PANASONIC UB820, Sony X800, or GIEC BDP5300 has any warranty nor service support locally;

latter being more important.

So if I run out of luck and it kaput then it's just too bad for me.

Sony X700 is available with local support but at this price, I am inclined to believe it can?t be an ocean of a difference with

my Sony S790 or Pioneer BDP450 for DVD or Bluray.

(BDP has a frequent issue with the remote and even Manually the tray refuses to open )

This means there is none in the price range of $800/ with local support then.

Bro, if you're gonna just hook up the BDP to your LG OLED and play to the TV (including TV audio), then just go local shop (Courts, Best Denki, etc..) and get a reasonably priced Sony BDP within your budget. You get local warranty. Problem solved.

With streaming getting more prevalent...my guess is BDPs are going to be hard to find in the near future...

If you don't play 4K disc, there may not be any significant different between your players and the much more expensive ones. Playing 4K disc will give you extra resolution but how much improvement also depends on the size of your screen and your viewing distance.

Thanks, Bro.

That will mean I have no choice but forced by technology to stay contented with what I already have.

I guess this means the end of the journey for a player to upgrade to view DVD n Bluray in better vision for me.

In today's local scene... if you still want to bet on the "1yr insurance warranty" offer by the electronic makers, SONY is the only one in the market that is happy to dish out their models for you to choose on while the others... except PHILIPS that still selling their budget and compact DVD player, are mostly turning off from physical disc player production for this little market.

the SONY X800mk2 offered by Anson Audio warranty is not really a "SONY trained professional service" et all. Should you've seen the internals of the X1100, how much complexity of internal component can it be for the X800? the so call warranty usually refers to simple servicing such as swapping of components, or replacing of belts. What other stuff can you expect if the player cannot read the disc that you put in?

my point is... the day of wide choice of physical media player in this market is in it's dimming light as SONY is the last marque that is still standing. previously we may still have the X-Box ONE S that plays FHDBD/UHDBD but not DVD. Sony's X700 in the market now warrantied by SONY, is locked up on region 3/A on DVD and FHDBD. other makes still in the market available in the market are mostly parallel imported and doesn't comes with warranty by the respective makers.
U want BluRay player from Pioneer? No chance. DVD players with HDMI output available, but no warranty.
U want BluRay player from Samsung? There are, but like some of their DVD players with HDMI output, no warranty.
U want BluRay player from LG? Yeah... there are parallel imports of much older UP970, but also no warranty.
U want BluRay player from PANASONIC? Yeah... there are, BDT180 and BDT380 that upscale FHDBD to 4K, but no warranty. DVD player with HDMI output available as well.
U want BluRay player from PHILIPS? Yeah... there is, BDP2590 that upscale FHDBD to 4K, but no warranty. DVD player with HDMI? Yeah... it is warrantied.
How about GIEC? that lesser known little marque from China that makes a BluRay player that is totally region unlocked? Yes... warrantied as well, but only with it's FHDBD player, available only from PohKim.

What makes the light of wide availability of physical players dimming? STREAMING! NAS, NetFlix, Amazon Prime, HuLu, HBO, Disney+, and the upcoming Paramount+ all have to be blamed! But that's just me... since i don't have a big bandwidth net work to support those streaming...
Yeah... if i'm to push off some blame, i also blame at those who favors STREAMING over physical media, that keeps blowing on the light of physical media players. Why you folks can't understand the logic and benefits of physical medias?

...it's just interesting what does the Seller's 2yrs warranty cover?

however... with the current on-going fall of GBP...

Anymore lower? Sure... if you go to Australia for a short trip...

Just that upon entry, we'll have to pay 7% GST...
