Despite access to highres streaming from Qobuz, I still buy discs every month, just too lazy to take pics and post  :p

Good to know that!  ;D

I buy vinyl regularly but for cds I have bought much less as I listen to my streamer most of the time. Wondering if i shd sell off all my cds so that there'll be a little more space in my hifi room...

I don?t buy a lot nowadays. I will only get stuff that I really like. These are practically the only ones I got this year.

Oh no... why?!?!  ???

Unless you have an MQA capable CD-player, otherwise the resolution of that disc is lower than rebook CD, about 13 bits!! The only way to hear more than that is FLAC rip the CD and tag with the MQA Tagging app, and then stream the ripped file to a MQA capable DAC.

I have this boss, but the crystal version is really much better. Extension and image stability. I do not listen to this title often, so No way I will pay this kind of money if it isn't the best version.

You should hunt down the original XRCD release... the MQA version is going to pale in comparison  ;D

.....and how many times did the crystal disc cost you over the xrcd?  (Curious and itchy)

I have no idea how much the xrcd cost as probably its handed down by my dad.  The crystal cd is prob 30x more in price. Not all crystal cd sound gd, some are bad as well, some are normal, some are amazingly good.

Errmm.. ok... two questions if you don't mind;

1. How did you know it sounds better than your XRCD before you actually bought it?  ???

2. Can you elaborate how exactly you're playing this crystal disc? On what CD player or Transport or DAC exactly?

In case you didn't know, MQA compressed into redbook CDs, meaning into a 16bit/44.1k LPCM format, is a significantly compromised format which has an effective bit rate of about 13bits only, and high noise-floor. And once unfolded, the MQA rendering is based on generating random noise to simulate high-res, it does not actually contain high-res information in the folded 16/44.

I tried the cd before I bought it.  I bought it locally.

Played it on dcs vivaldi system and also Jadis J1( tpt) drive with lampizator baltic 3 (dac)

Its more quiet,  much much better image stability. More pin point and 3d.Bigger soundstage with better layering, tighter deeper bass.

Yes, I do know the limitations, but it just sounded better and is easily decernible.  I have not ripped it and play thru the upsampler/dac yet. So I do not know how it sound on true mqa softcopy format.  Comparing cd to cd, it's quite obvious which is the better one in terms of hifi aspect.
