New FW

http://forum.zidoo.tv/index.php?threads/beta-version-6-0-66-for-z9x-z10-pro-z1000-pro.83395/

Please note :-
If you are using the G ( google ) , you must update with the G version.
Else you have to do a Factory reset to default then update it again with the same version .

mirror mentioned of possible firmware release this weekend. hopefully quality is far better than that 6.0.80 release. already learnt my lesson with 6.0.80, going to let the early adopters test first...

My bro in law had been having hdmi handshake issues with his z9x n z1000pro and his denon 4700.
Having snowy screen and each time he exited from a movie, the AVR could no longer detect the external input signal from the zidoo.

Tried changing hdmi cables n switching inputs but still same problem.
He tried my z9s with no problems.

Changing settings on the zidoo (60hz down to 24hz) did rnot esolve the problem.
Stock cables did not resolve problem too

Then finally, he changed the HDCP setting on the AVR from AUTO to 2.3 n the Zidoo to 2.2 and viola, problem resolved.

Previous setting was AVR HDCP = Auto
Zidoo HDCP = 2.2

Not sure if that's the root cause of the handshaking problem but so far so good now

Question on Movie poster scrapping.

I have couple of movies parked under "Others" which the scrapping could not identify
I tried to match them to movie titles closest to it for e.g. "Killing" to "The Killing" though movie is different.
After the match, I replaced the image of the movie to the actual "Killing" poster which I had saved to my hdd.

However, the synopsis is still referencing the "The Killing" and the movie title in the HT app is now The Killing"
Is there any way to rectify the synopsis and the movie title?

Z9X hdmi handshake by the Zidoo media player is horrendous. Black flashes everytime refresh rate changes. Z9X has hung my Plasma TV twice on starting movie - hung as in totally non-responsive to button/remote, must power down TV from the wall socket. Z9X made my Yamaha AVR ki siao (go mad) once. The Z9X hdmi handshake has a long way to improve.

The following settings has made it tolerable to me:
a. Firmware 6.0.66G
b. set GUI to 24Hz (and when Z9X intermittently goes mad and revert the setting to Auto, I manually reset back to 24Hz)
c. change frame rate with 5 secs delay (and live with the freeze screen for 5 secs at the start of the show, at least it won't kill my plasma TV.)

I gave up on HT4 scraper, too many scraping errors for my liking, resulting in a lot of effort to tidy up, I am back to using ZDMC with my central SQL database. So far so good, save for the the workaround teaching my little finger to hit "W" to manually mark the show watched.

For the issues above, do pop over to the zidoo forum, there is a guy called "OlivierQC" who posted quite a lot of tips on dealing with HT4 and HT4 workarounds. Do check it out over there...

I did some Wireshark SMBv2 tracing and found the possible cause of the high bitrate playback stutter, found a workaround, and posted my findings on the Zidoo forum. Hopefully their R&D will pick it up from there and improve/fix the issue. I am currently running firmware 90G.

If you face this issue, the workaround is to turn off HT4 auto-scanning (scraping).
No loss to me because I don't like HT4 and don't use it.
I still like Kodi (ZDMC in this case).

http://forum.zidoo.tv/index.php?threads/z9x-smb-playback-issues-while-streaming-from-nas.84784/page-15

Managed to find some time to recapture Wireshark after disabling HT4 scanning. Much much better.

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1gjmOAfPVZ9RxRJ72sZZjRBH20yjWyyKc?usp=sharing
-> Excel file dated 2021-01-30.

This wireshark trace was taken soon after boot up, and started the JellyFish clips via Media Center.
I don't see anymore SMB scanning packets, checking out other folders/files.
The streaming SMB read requests are pretty consistent until the end of the clip.
One observation was that at the start of the stream the SMB read request length is unstable, and can vary from 1Mb to as low as 4kb, and then jumps back up to 1Mb read requests until the end of the clip. Not sure why the SMB read request length is varying by so much...

I just updated to 6.2.5G beta. Screwed up the picture quality on my plasma TV and caused elevated blacks (compared to 6.1.05G firmware). Grrr?

Anyways, the solution is as follows:
1. set HDMI range to 16-255
2. set Non-4K to YUV444 10bit
3. set Deep Color to OFF
4. set HDR to SDR gamma to Bright
5. set HDR to Auto

YMMV! That?s ?beta life??

Updated to 6.3.0G, seems to be working  well (after the tweaks posted earlier about SDR elevated blacks)
