I saw audio's review on the uhd3000 and also inputs on the z9x, and I'm quite inclined to purchase the z9x as i dont need the additional hw on the uhd3000.

But wanted 2 ask for advice on which model shld i buy/consider b4 i take the final plunge because there are other models like z1000 pro, z10 pro which has the dv up conversion too that i need.

My usage & requirements :
- 100% movies usage
- play via ext hdd (not using NAS)
- my display is dv capable, uhd
- i would love to have the dv up-conversion capability for hdr/sdr materials

Any advice is appreciated  :)

If you don?t need the audiophile DAC & internal HDD bay, probably Z9X would be good enough for now.

If your needs grow, later can still trade up?

My philosophy and this what I had shared with many XP members:-

"You either buy flagship or entry model.  You should avoid intermediate models."

Intermediate models tend to confuse things....you wonder you could have saved more money buying entry level or have you made a poor decision compromising from purchasing the flagship.

I have both the Z9S and Z9X.

Video output configured as 3840x2160 @ 60Hz YUV420 10 bits ITU 709.
Display is a UST 4K projector. Playback Bluray MKV movies from NAS.

Z9S player works fine without problem.

But Z9X player is not working. Seemed like not accepting the video signal
(black screen). Video output has been configured and shown same as Z9S.
However, it work perfectly fine on my Samsung 4K TV.

Seeking help from knowledgeable fellow forumers to try to get a solution.

Thanks in advance.

Lots of UST claim to be 4k , but the fact is they are not native 4k .
lots of them can / may only support 4k/30hz and only 8bits colour .

Thanks for pointing out which is a true. But what confused me is that both player
seemed to output similar video specs but only one work but not the other.

As you say both work on your Samsung Tv, that tell some of the feature is not supported on your UST.
Z9x hv DV /12bits/ Colour depth and dif set of HDMI code that 9s don?t ?.
Well , you can force it to work .
Download the Zidoo control app and set
1)resolution start at 1080p first to get the TV display the menu .
2) colour 8bits
3) from there to disable DV and try the 4k setting once at a time see which will work.

Appreciate your kind advice and suggestions. I have tried out all the various combinations
of basic settings at 1080p but still no go. Observed that the color depth output from the Z9X
is always at YUV 420/422/444 8 bits even for 1080p which I believed is the key difference
between the Z9S and most likely not supported by the UST projector.

Anyway I decided not to pursue further since very sure it is never going to work. Thanks for
the help.

T U Bro Audio and Boxer for the inputs. I just bought the Z9X and it arrived.

But need some help on the settings.

1) SOFTWARE VERSION- v6.3.12_G
Is this the latest? On Zidoo website, I can only see v6.0.90

2) COLOUR SETTINGS
What should I set for (currently it is on default 'PriorityYUV420 8BIT'):
-4k 50-60hz
-4k 23-30hz
-non-4k
-HDMI Range
-Deep Color Compensation
-HDMI Signal Format

*Update to my post: Detection of VS10 DV video resolved after setting the color settings recommended by MarkSwift on Zidoo forum.

My quick prelim impressions of the Z9X after playing familiar scenes. Referenced with:
1) Oppo 203 (my reference player)
2) Zidoo X9S (pre-owned)

My display is a LG C7 OLED TV. SDR calibrated to reference and HDR partially calibrated. HDMI cables - all capable of supporting 4k / HDR/ DV.

HDMI Path: Z9X HDMI OUT >> Denon AVR X8500H HDMI IN >> DENON AVR X8500H HDMI OUT >> DISPLAY

PRELUDE
- In my previous Zidoo X9S unit, while the file support was excellent, my major complaint is that the SDR and HDR material, the colors looks crushed and the PQ was a MAJOR disappointment, versus the Oppo 203.
- The X9S unit "EQ-ed" the colors significantly. The video motion panning was also disappointing on the X9S compared to Oppo 203.
- So Oppo 203 has remained my reference player for both PQ and SQ.
- I was looking fwd to see if the PQ on the Z9X is improved and solve the PQ issues of the X9S.

MOVIE AUDIO SQ
- HD multi channel audio is superb.
- Comparable to the Oppo 203 and no major noticeable difference.

SDR PQ (without VS10 engine engaged)
- On the Z9X, the SDR PQ is not good when played without VS10 engine engaged.
- Colors and blacks are crushed and white levels are also koyak.
- The video motion panning is also not good, not smooth, and there are issues (e.g. some stutter).
- But, compared to the X9S' SDR PQ, there is an improvement.

Winner: Oppo 203

VS10 ENGINE ENGAGED PQ (UPCONVERSION OF SDR AND HDR MATERIAL TO DV)
- On the Z9X, once the VS10 engine on Z9X is enabled on SDR and HDR, my OLED TV detected DV signal and displayed DV video output.
- With this, there was a big improvement in the PQ as compared to without VS10 engaged! Day and night difference I would say.
- In terms of video motion panning, with VS10 engine engaged, it seems smoother and stutter minimised as compared to VS10 engine not being engaged. Wow this VS10 engine is solid.
- skin tones are also slightly richer/ warmer. Nice

As compared to Zidoo X9S,
- Z9X wins hands down for PQ.

As compared to Oppo 203,
- I felt Oppo 203's PQ is better and more balanced. Esp for SDR sources.
- The VS10 engine on the Z9X, although it produces DV output and colors look more rich/exciting and had more pop on SDR materials, it is exciting to enjoy at the start, but... over a longer viewing period, it causes viewing fatigue.
- In very dark scenes, it causes some very dark areas to be illuminated which may not be the intended effect of the producer.
- playing very dark or very bright scenes on the Oppo 203 still had the best balance of black and colors accuracy.

Winner: Oppo 203

But, overall, the Z9X with the VS10 engine engaged, the PQ is pretty good. Without VS10 Engine, it is not so good. BUT.... seriously, at this price point of $200+, the Z9X is indeed very good already and exceeded expectations. Comparing it to the Oppo 203, may not be a completely fair comparison, but it shows that the Z9X with the VS10 engine engaged is no slouch.

Yup, 6.3.12G is the latest beta firmware.

i am gonna be very intrusive here....
jus list down your TV MODEL NUMBER " oled tv can be a 1st gen model, so lets be transparent for all to see n search if the display can handle it!!.... LIST DOWN IF U RUNNING IT "DIRECT TO TV" OR THROUGH AN UNSPECIFIED AVR MAKE OR MODEL NUMBER.
no use saying if u have a OLED TV that cant handle anything, or AVR that is made eon's ago...  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
