I don't know about you guys but I am not getting audio on any movies or concerts with Stereo audio selection on my Zidoo UHD3000.  Playback on Multichannel tracks (DTS and Dolby, Dolby Atmos) are OK.

This may be a dumb question but how does one turn the Zidoo to standby mode.

Using the remote standby button doesn?t work.

The front power button doesn?t work either.

Maybe I need to update the firmware.

I was watching some 720p content last night and the overall picture quality wasn?t all that great to me. Seemed to have crushed blacks compared to my old Zappiti Mini HDR. I?ll see if I can capture what I mean on camera tonight.

Being able to watch DV discs and media is a nice bonus tho.

The Zidoo software doesn?t seem to separate SMB folders for movies and TV and IMHO that trips up the show recognition. Zappiti will force you to separate folders for the two. So Law and Order TV became Law and Order movie with Ronald Reagan.

Apparently my firmware was already the latest but I just enabled beta firmware.

That?s when I realized that pressing the power button on the remote actually launches a pop up menu. It doesn?t go into standby like my old Zappiti. I think I had to press power button twice to go to standby.

As for black crushing, I think it was because I got too carried away with the display settings. I think I set SDR content to 4K 444 12 bit on the Zidoo - because I could. But checking the Zidoo forum, it is recommended to leave it to 444 8 bit - which is what the Zappiti sets automatically. Switching to that made the PQ virtually the same.

I did find enabling DV conversion did improve the overall PQ but for one issue - due to my projector. The last firmware on the 760ES enabled dynamic iris but also introduced severe grey banding on dark HDR scenes. So for 720p low bitrate material, the banding was quite bad with DV conversion. Ended up using DV conversion on HDR material (which would also exhibit the grey banding anyway).

Oh and I guess I need to figure out how to change the metadata on some shows. It still shows Law and Order as a movie rather than a TV series.

Its got better at my end with HD Fury VRROOM and the firmware update for the Zidoo UHF3000. (Banding issue)

Choose the LDDV option at the HDR selection.

How did you fix it?

VRROOM doesn?t really do image processing right?

I?m using 760ES With Vertex 2

The banding is caused by converting normal video to DV (Zidoo) and then DV to HDR (HD-Fury) for your projector.

Both VRROOM and VERTEX absolutely does video processing?..

I believe VRROOM and Vertex only spoof SSID between the display and source. They don't perform conversion. That's done by the player (player led DV aka LLDV)

I was watching Morbius yesterday and it was encoded to 25GB which seemed to minimise macro blocking. Watching DisneyPlus Avengers End Game, the scene where Hawkeye is witnessing the confrontation of the two Nebula and Gamora- when Gamora first comes out of the shadows, it is quite bad. I might go try the UHD disc later

It have to convert, or else how can your VPL-VW760ES handled the raw DV signals?  It converts the LDDV into HDR, that's why you must input your display EDID at the HD-Fury so they know how to convert.

That?s not quite right

LLDV is also known as player led DV

The display reports it?s brightness capabilities through the HDMI EDID handshake. The player then decodes the DV metadata into HDR matched to what the display reported it was capable of.

The Question is , what if the display tell the player < I can?t handle that ? > so something in-between will have to take care of that , in this case  ( V ) to change to something the display can show right ? and it just happen this process called < Convert > hope that i am right , no fire me ok.

Yes, player led DV is LLDV.  But the output is DV, not HDR.

That is why we have to purchase the HD-Fury , it is to convert the LLDV signals back to HDR for the projector.  Otherwise, we don't even need the HD-Fury in the signal chain, saves us a couple of hundreds dollars.
